City Pastels
Project Duration : 2 weeks
Concept / Purpose : Archive
,
Medium : Paper
Dimensions : 5.8 x 8.3 inches
Genre : Mosaic
This zine is an experimentation, an enhanced, visual manifestation of the
vibrant shades of color, that my eyes surrounded with, on my exploration
of Lower Manhattan over the Summer of 2023.
Each composition, contains an image most often in a 3:4 frame size ratio, dissected into a minimum of 47 panels, to a maximum of 64 panels, placed individually on a hand made grid. I manipulated the color balance and tonal range by modifying the curves representing different color channels, creating duotone images of: light blue, green, pink, and a darker blue.
Rather than solely focusing on the final output of the project, my intentions were to be surrendered to the process of placing each panel one by one. Flipping through the book, these palettes of color, transform in hue, as one traverses through the city. The distortion, embodies the fragmented pieces of memory associated with those moments within which the images were clicked.
